Olympic 2012 hopefuls

Why we’re getting behind Lynsey Sharpe and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local sprinter Lynsey Sharpe as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavors to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.
Lynsey trains locally at the Meadowbank in Edinburgh. Edinburgh-born Lynsey has been running since the age of eight and, at just 22 has already won a bronze medal in the European Under 23 800m event (2011).
“I’m really grateful to Eastern Motor Company and BMW for their support,” said Lynsey. “It’s tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it’s a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It’s also fantastic having a brand new BMW 118i SE from now until the end of the Games. There’s a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it’s great being able to arrive there in style.”
Magnus Wang, Dealer Principal at Eastern Motor Company, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012 so we’re really happy to be backing Lynsey - especially since it makes us all feel as if we're playing a part in the London 2012 Games too.”
